Col. John Cross, signed an agreement to provide assistance under Section 592 authorization.

The Section 592 Program provides environmental assistance to non-federal interests in Mississippi. This includes, but is not limited to, projects for wastewater treatment and related facilities, elimination or control of combined sewer overflow water supply and related facilities, environmental restoration, and surface water resource protection and development. Assistance may be provided only for projects that are publically owned and the non-federal interest must enter into a written cost share agreement to furnish its required cooperation for the project.

The sewer and water infrastructure was allocated $475,000.00 of which federal funds in the amount of $356,250.00 were appropriated and $118,250.00 in local matching funds were required.  The remainder of the cost of replacing the infrastructure and restoring and paving Fifth Avenue will be paid from the proceeds of a $10,000,000.00 General Obligation Bond issued in December, 2015.
