WELCOME DIXIE YOUTH BASEBALL WORLD SERIES ![]() I, Mayor Melvin Mack would like to welcome you to our city. It is a special pleasure for us to share our baseball facilities with you during the Dixie Youth World Series. Baseball is a major interest here in Laurel/Jones County. Our city is very grateful that we are able to provide facilities such as these so that our citizens and guests can pursue a healthy life-style provided by recreation and sporting events such as the Dixie Youth World Series. I would also like to invite you to use our other recreational areas while you are here. Our Sportsplex facility on Highway 84 West is the home for our baseball facility in addition to our soccer fields, tennis courts and our state-of-the-art Natatorium. The Natatorium houses BodyWorks and a swimming pool with a lifeguard on duty at all times. Mason Park, located on North Seventh Avenue, provides a walking track in a lovely natural setting as well as the newest addition to our recreation department facilities, a gigantic custom-designed community playground, which was funded and built by our citizens. While we are proud of our City and its recreational facilities, it is the people who make our community special. Without our dedicated recreation staff and committed volunteers such as our host committee for the Dixie Youth World Series, our recreation program would not be nearly so effective. Without the warmth and hospitality of our citizens, the beauty of our city would not be nearly so enjoyable. We encourage you to become familiar with Laurel - get to know our people. I hope that your visit in Laurel will be so pleasant that you will want to come back and visit us soon and often. If there is anything that I or my staff can do to enhance your stay, please do not hesitate to give us a call. Yours very truly, Melvin MackCity of Laurel ![]() |
