Job Description

The Equipment Operator I is a part-time position that will assist the Parks & Recreation
Department supervising the AmeriCorps Members in task of Environmental Stewardship &
Program Activities on a daily basis. Equipment Operator I will work on a 20 hour per week
schedule which will be assigned by the Program Supervisor. Occasional weekend & evening
work will be necessary to complete workload demands. The persons in these positions may
occasionally be on call. The positions have accountability for monetary, fiscal, safety, and legal
issues related to the work for which this position is responsible.
The Parks and Recreation Program Supervisor is the immediate supervisor for this position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Supervise AmeriCorps Members in Environmental Stewardship
• Ensure necessary equipment & supplies are available for use
• Assign routes for Environmental Stewardship service
• Ensure service has been completed & documented
• Observe members during scheduled hours of service to ensure completion of service
• Provide members transportation to & from service sites
• Train members in Environmental Stewardship

Supervise AmeriCorps Members in Program Activities
• Ensure necessary equipment & supplies are available for use
• Train members in Program Activities
• Open/Close Facilities after Program Activities use
• Responsible for monetary collection
• Ensure Facilities are clean after Program Activities use (remove trash, sweep)

Requirements

Certification, Education, Experience

Certification:

A valid MS driver’s license is required for this position, must pass a FBI
Fingerprint, NSOPW & State Background Check

Education:

A high school diploma or its equivalent is required for this position

Experience:

Supervisory experience and knowledge of Environmental Equipment (blowers,
weed eaters, mowers) & Program Activities (baseball, basketball, flag football, track, softball,
dance) is preferred
