KEEP LAUREL/JONES COUNTY BEAUTIFUL

Just around the corner is the Keep Laurel/Jones County Beautiful annual spring cleaning event: the Great American Cleanup. The City of Laurel, along with the cities of Ellisville, Soso and Sandersville will again participate in the 2013 Great American Clean-up. This is the nation’s largest community improvement program that takes place every year from March 1 through May 31 and involves more than 3 million volunteers and participants nationwide.  It is a time when we can show our commitment to community by helping to clean up littered roadsides, parks, trails and ditches.

The official kick-off event will be Monday, April 15, 2013 at 9:00 am in front of the County Courthouse in Laurel. We are anticipating a large turnout with representatives from the Jones County Sheriffs Department, local elected officials, civic clubs and community service groups who will be helping in this endeavor. Volunteers will be on hand to distribute garbage bags and work gloves to anyone interested cleaning up the neighborhood.  Churches and community organizations are especially encouraged to participate

The cleanup will be hosted in conjunction with The Great American Clean-Up program. Dumpster sites will be available around Jones County for residents to fill with the trash that they collect.
In Laurel, dumpsters will be available in Boston Park, Cotton Mill Park, Mason Park, and the Laurel Fairgrounds.
