Historic Home Tour of Wisteria
Wisteria is located in the heart of the historic district on tree canopied Fifth Avenue at Seventh Street. It was built in 1900 of cypress and heart pine for one of Laurel's founding fathers, Silas Gardiner, an owner of Eastman-Gardiner Lumber Co. The Colonial Revival was purchased in December 1972 by the present owners. Wisteria is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a pivotal structure. Wisteria is open for historic tours of the house and Laurel for groups by appointment. Call (601) 426-3805, or 1-888-426-3805, or email for information. The home features exquisite handmade leaded and beveled glass windows, considered the finest in Laurel. Admission fee charged. Wisteria, the lavendar house, is located across the street from the Lauren Rogers Museum of Art. www.wisteriabedandbreakfast.com
