A Workforce Development Job Fair, hosted by Mississippi Power, will be on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 11:00a.m.

Career development training and apprenticeship opportunities to deserving and qualified young men and women in our community. The job fair is open to all, however, an emphasis will be placed on finding qualified minorities. Mississippi Power is partnering with Strategic Systems, a firm that is an expert in the industry. Union representatives and trade industry experts from 13 various union trades (electrical, plumbing, welding, pipefitters, bricklayers, etc.)  will be present at the fair to assist with screening, qualifying and training the accepted applicants. Those qualified into the program will attend two days of training on October 29th-30th and then will be eligible to enter into an apprenticeship program in his/her chosen field.

The tentative location for the fair is in the fellowship hall of Calvary Missionary Baptist Church on Central Avenue.  However, due to the overwhelming response received from the initial fair held in Gulfport, it may have to be held in a larger venue.  We will keep you posted.
