Dixie Youth Baseball, Inc Commissioner Wes Skelton discusses the upcoming Dixie Youth World Series with Recreation Department head Elvin Ulmer

Dixie Youth Baseball state and National Directors at the Laurel Sportsplex hospitality room during the State meeting.

 

The City of Laurel was the host location for the Dixie Youth Baseball 2013 State Meeting of the Mississippi Dixie Youth Baseball recently at the Laurel Sportsplex. State and national directors were on hand to discuss the upcoming 2013 Dixie Youth World Series as well as rule changes and scholarships. Elvin Ulmer, Recreation Director, was proud to host the state meeting and show the attendees all the City of Laurel had to done in preparation for this summer’s games. The state meeting was the first event held at the newly constructed hospitality room at the Sportsplex. The concession and press box are also completed construction and ready for the DYWS.

Wes Skelton, Commissioner of Dixie Youth Baseball, Inc., recalled the world series in 2009. “We were all under this big tent. It is so nice to see the City of Laurel accommodate the needs of Dixie Youth Baseball.”

Other national officers of the Dixie Youth Baseball, Inc in attendance: P.L. Corley, President (Alabama), and Gary McJunkin, Secretary (South Carolina).

Mr. Tommy Rheams, District Director of Dixie Youth also commented on the new facilities at the Sportsplex. “We are excited to be back in Laurel for the 2013 Dixie Youth World Series. It will be the first time a city has hosted all three divisions (AAA, Ozone & Majors) in one city at one time. We’re looking forward to a great tournament.”
