Child Safety Checkpoint

The Laurel Police Department would like to invite you to attend the annual Child Passenger Safety Seat Checkpoint. Certified officers will be present to demonstrate the proper placement and installation of your child’s safety seat. The event is free and open to the public. Appointments are not necessary. Each car seat check takes about 30 minutes. If possible, please bring the manufacturer’s manuals for the vehicle and car seat. Car seats will be provided and installed to those in need on a first come, first served basis. Police will check for proper installation of existing car seats already in cars and will have a limited number of seats to give away. Last year, 75 car seats were given away during this event. The event is sponsored by the LPD, Mississippi Department of Health and the Mississippi Highway Patrol.
