Day in the Park is the Laurel Arts League’s largest annual event, which takes place the first Saturday each May in Mason Park. The day begins with a 5K race followed by a Fun Run. Throughout the day, patrons can enjoy live music, student and juried art competitions, delicious festival cuisine, children’s activities, and the works of skilled craftsmen from across the region.

Day in the Park begins with a 5K Race and 1-Mile Fun Run for participants of all ages. The 5K starts at 8:00 a.m., immediately followed by the Fun Run. Guests can revel in a Variety entertainment acts on Mason Park’s main stage throughout the day including dancing, blues, rock, country and local show choirs. After enjoying the performances, patrons can stroll the oak-lined paths and purchase hand-crafted goods from over 50 regional vendors. All artists and craftsmen may participate in the juried booth competition where they can win up to $500. Festival concessionaires will offer a tantalizing array of food including hamburgers, corn dogs, barbecue, chicken-on-a-stick, funnel cakes, ice cream, lemonade and soft drinks. Students from public, private and home-schooled children may participate. Children can enjoy a variety of crafts including sand art and face painting. The Laurel Tree Board, Gamma Iota and the Lauren Rogers Museum will delight kids with the many supervised activities before they enjoy pony rides, a dunk tank and fun jumpers.
