| Although the Laurel Municipal Separate School District works autonomously under the leadership of its own administration and in accordance with Title 37, Chapters 11 and following of the Mississippi Code, the five members of the Board of Trustees, which serves as the legislative arm of the school district, are appointed by the Mayor and must be confirmed by the Laurel City Council. Trustees serve five year terms and may be re-appointed upon expiration of each term. In order to qualify as a trustee, each new appointee is mandated by State law to attend a state-sponsored training workshop.
All meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month. Meetings scheduled at a school campus will begin with a tour at 4 p.m., followed by the school board meeting at 5 p.m. All Gardiner Building meetings will begin at 5 p.m. unless noted below. |
