‘Tis the season to be…watching parades, shopping and eating till you drop, appreciating others, giving thanks and remembering why many of us celebrate Christmas. There are so many fun, unique and special events held around Laurel for the Holiday Season, it is hard to keep track of them all.

LRMA Shop Open House/ November 15  @  10:00 a.m.
You are invited the Museum for a head start on holiday shopping with fabulous discounts, food,fun and free gift-wrapping with Debbie Thomson, jewelry artist. Catherine Strange and John David Williams, authors of Fearless Entertaining series will be present from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Other notables include Jason Wilson, ceramic artist and Jim Frasier, author of The Garden District of New Orleans. Landrum’s Country “Christmas at the Village” / November 24 @ 9:00am-8:00pm
There will be music, clogging, woodcarving, Civil War Re-enactment, wagon rides, candlelight tour, arts and crafts and much more at Landrum’s Homestead & Village, 29th annual, “Christmas at the Village”. Admission is $8. Children three and under free. For more information, please call

Laurel Christmas Tree Lighting / November 29 @ 5:30pm
Tree lighting will begin at 5:30pm at Pinehurst Park followed by various choirs, bands and instrumental ensembles staged throughout Downtown, retail shops’ open houses, restaurants open, etc! Bring the entire family and come out to enjoy this great Christmas tradition, sponsored by BancorpSouth and Rasberry Financial Services! Artists Market / November 29- December 1
The Artists Market offers a special holiday theme with music, festivities & vendors selling unique, hand-made holiday gifts and artisan foods. Holiday Market held at Studio5Fifty. Call (601) 649-0383 for more information.

Movie Night at the Arabian: The Polar Express / November 30 @ 7:00pm
All Aboard! THE POLAR EXPRESS will once again delight children and adults when it returns for the holidays to the historic Arabian Theater. This now-classic family favorite film will be presented by the First United Methodist Youth Ministries.

Laurel Kiwanis Annual Pancake Breakfast / December 1  @ 7:00 – 10:00am
A Laurel tradition. Pancakes are sold in three locations – the Oak Street YWCO, First Baptist Church Family Life Center and the Pine Belt Education Center (old Gibson’s building).

Sertoma Christmas Parade – A Bayou Christmas / December 1 @ 10:00am
The parade will feature floats, marching bands, JCJC Homecoming Court and of course Santa! Route runs through the business district in Historic Downtown Laurel. This year’s Grand Marshals are  RJ and Jay Paul Molinere from The History Channel’s hit series “Swamp People” Entry forms and fees must be received by 5:00 p.m. Monday, November 26, 2012. Light the Park / December 1 – January 1
Amid twinkling lights, angels in flight and flamingos aglow, the holiday spirit is alive and well here. Children, and children at heart, are enchanted by the larger-than-life Nativity scene, elves working in Santa’s workshop, spinning lighted carousel, whirling Ferris wheel, ice skaters and more. Mason Park has over 200,000 lights that bring a glow to the night sky until January first and have been attracting crowds since 1996.

LRMA Gala  – The Oriental Ball / December 1  @ 6:00pm – Midnight 
The Museum’s annual black-tie fundraising event features a gourmet dinner and eye-catching decorations that will infuse the Museum with the sights, sounds, and sensations of the mysterious and opulent Orient.  The evening will include silent and live auctions, dinner and dancing.  To purchase tickets you must be an LRMA member at the Sponsor level ($100) or above.  Tickets are $100 each.  For further ticket information contact info@LRMA.org or 601.649.6374.

Charlie Brown Jazz Christmas / December 7 @ 7:o0pm
Rock around the Christmas tree with nationally touring band the Invincible Czars from Austin, Texas. The Czars will perform its rendition of Tchaikovsky’s “The Nutcracker Suite,” an arrangement described as “a whimsical rock interpretation  expanded in recent years to include the band’s unique interpretations of other seasonal favorites.” Once your head is filled with dancing sugar plum fairies, drummer John Milham will take the stage with his trio, featuring pianist Chris Spies and bassist Tommy Sciple, performing Vince Guaraldi’s beloved soundtrack, “A Charlie Brown Christmas.” Children of all ages will delight in projected animation from the movie and scenes from other classic children’s Christmas movies while the band performs.  Visit http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/293910 for tickets.

Pictures with Santa / December 9 @ 1:00 – 6:00pm
