The Federation of Democratic Women came to the Mayor’s office for a proclamation presentation that recognized the work in voter registration in Jones County this morning. Current president Ann Martin has lead in the planning and implementation of initiatives that promote the principles and ideals of the Democratic Party on a local level in Laurel. During the years since the organization of their association, members of the Jones County Federation of Democratic Women have worked tirelessly to promote voter registration and have encouraged voter turn-out by going door-to-door to contact potential voters and by providing transportation to the polls. In addition, the group has hosted several meet & greet breakfasts with local legislators and handed out information at the South State Mississippi Fair as recently as October, 2017. They have lobbied the legislature regarding issues that benefit all citizens of Jones County and celebrated the tenth anniversary of their formation in 2007. A delegation of the Jones County Federation of Democratic Women will be on hand in Washington D.C. on March 8 & 9, 2018 as part of the National Women in Blue.
