Leaf and Limb Pick-up Hours Extended
Posted on: June 7, 2018
The Public Works Department provides a free pick-up service for disposal of leaves, limbs, and other non-household waste items. Currently, there is no regularly scheduled day for pick-up of leaf and limbs, rather pick-ups are scheduled from the 1st of the month through the 15th of the month for those residing north of 10th Street. Pick up from 10th St to the south will be picked up from the 16th to the end of the month. The department is currently working on Saturdays to catch up on pick-ups. Three of the four trucks were out-of service due to maintenance and are back on line to catch up with the demand. All leaves and small limbs should be organized neatly off the roadway and should be out before the schedule starts at your part of town. Individual limbs should have a diameter no larger than 6 inches. Larger amounts of limbs can be picked up for an additional charge. No trees will be picked up without prior arrangement. The Sanitation Department does not pick up for commercial tree services. They are responsible for hauling away trees they cut down Please contact the City of Laurel Public Works office at 601.428.6455 to schedule a large pick-up or for miscellaneous debris collection (i.e. furniture or large appliance.)
Leaves or debris shall not be placed in the street or near a storm drain. Leaves and debris placed in the street or gutter ultimately get carried by stormwater. There are a number of ditches, culverts, and other features in place to help reduce the chance of flooding by stormwater. These features require continuous maintenance to make sure they are functioning properly. Many times because of yard maintenance and debri, these drains can get clogged. Please be sure to keep our drains clear by not blowing yard trimmings into the street. Thank you for your patience as we get back to our regular debris pick-up schedule
