The City of Laurel, in partnership with Laurel Main Street, is proud to announce that the community’s cherished Fourth of July fireworks celebration will continue this year at a new location. The spectacular fireworks display will take place in the parking lot at the corner of Carroll Gartin Blvd. and Spec Wilson Blvd., with festivities beginning at 9:00 p.m.
The annual fireworks show, traditionally hosted by Sawmill Square Mall, faced cancellation this year due to ongoing construction and safety concerns at the mall property. Recognizing the importance of this beloved community tradition, Mayor Johnny Magee worked closely with Laurel Main Street to ensure the celebration would continue for families throughout the region.
“This Fourth of July fireworks display is a treasured tradition that brings our community together each year,” said Mayor Magee. “When we learned that construction at the mall would prevent the show from happening at its usual location, we knew we had to step up to keep this celebration alive for our residents and visitors.”
Laurel Main Street will provide essential logistics and promotional support for the relocated event, helping to coordinate the seamless transition to the new venue. The new location offers ample space to enjoy the patriotic celebration while maintaining pyrotechnic safety protocols.
“We’re thrilled to support the City of Laurel in preserving this important community tradition,” said Caroline Burks, Executive Director of Laurel Main Street. “The Fourth of July fireworks show is more than just entertainment – it’s a time when our community comes together to celebrate our shared values and patriotic spirit.”
The event is made possible through the generous support of community sponsors who stepped forward to ensure the show would go on. The City of Laurel and Laurel Main Street extend their heartfelt gratitude to all sponsors, including: Jones County Economic Development Authority, ProFlow Motorsports, Friends of Robin Robinson, Alex Hodge, The Knight Butcher, The Remnant, Jones County Board of Supervisors, Mark Tucker, Hellfighters, and Howard Technology.
Some areas of the mall parking lot will be made available for attendees. There will be barrels and cones in place to block areas where construction is ongoing. Attendees who plan to view the show from the mall parking lot, will need to stay in the approved areas in order to ensure their safety.
