City Seeks Public Input Through New Safety Survey

May 21, 2025

The City of Laurel is inviting residents, business owners, and other stakeholders to participate in a new survey that will help shape the future of roadway safety in the community. The SS4A (Safe Streets and Roads for All) survey is now available online and can be accessed here.

This interactive survey is a critical component of Laurel’s Safe Streets and Roads for All planning efforts, aimed at identifying transportation priorities and improving safety for drivers, pedestrians, and cyclists alike.

“We need the community’s voice to guide decisions that will impact safety on our roads for years to come,” said Laurel Mayor Johnny Magee. “By participating in this survey, residents can highlight areas of concern and suggest ideas for improvements.”

The survey takes just a few minutes to complete.

Feedback collected will inform the city’s SS4A Action Plan, a key step toward applying for federal funding to implement safety improvements.

The City of Laurel, established as a lumber town in 1882, is conveniently situated approximately two hours from larger destination cities such as Jackson, Biloxi, New Orleans, and Mobile. In recent years, the city has become a destination all its own thanks, in part, to its starring role in HGTV’s popular “Hometown” series. As Laurel, and interest in it, continues to grow, we are committed to providing the resources necessary to help all of our residents and businesses reach their full potential.
