Laurel native is making a splash as a genre-blending bluesman

Ra’ Shad the Blues Kid is building an impressive career from his home town of Laurel, Mississippi. His blending of southern soul, Delta blues, and country has captured the attention (and adoration) of fans here in Mississippi and around the world.

In May, he was featured in a 6-page spread in Living Blues magazine which covered his upbringing in Laurel where his parents and church family instilled in him a love of music, his varied musical influences which include BB King and Bobby Bland and Los Lonely Boys and Toby Keith, and the development of his career which has so far produced several singles, multiple albums and music videos, and tours that have taken him and his band across the United States and Europe.
