New project begins on 3rd Avenue

January 25, 2024

A public works project to improve 3rd Avenue between 10th Street and 13th Street began on January 22, 2024 and is expected to continue for several months.

The project will be completed by Miller Enterprises, LLC. Work crews will work from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday.

Residents may be impacted by the noise and the project may affect on-street parking, cause lane closures, road closures, and temporary drive-way closures. Residents will be informed of driveway closures in advance and these instances will be kept to a minimum.

Thank you for your patience as we continue to improve and maintain our City Beautiful!

The City of Laurel, established as a lumber town in 1882, is conveniently situated approximately two hours from larger destination cities such as Jackson, Biloxi, New Orleans, and Mobile. In recent years, the city has become a destination all its own thanks, in part, to its starring role in HGTV’s popular “Hometown” series. As Laurel, and interest in it, continues to grow, we are committed to providing the resources necessary to help all of our residents and businesses reach their full potential.
