Red VS Blue Tuna Drive a Success!

February 7, 2025

Sorry Charlie! The LPD and LFD collected HUNDREDS of Cans of Canned Tuna for the 2025 March of the Mayor’s Food Drive. Members of each department spent Friday morning collecting tuna for the event at the city’s first Red Vs Blue stuff a truck day. The Fire Department collected the most tuna and got to take home the Big Tuna Trophy. But, the real winners will be the food pantries throughout our region who will receive the food collected during the drive. Click here for more information on how March of the Mayors works.

A big shout out to our police officers and firefighters who worked the event, our partners at Walmart, and to the members of our community who generously donated for this event!

The City of Laurel, established as a lumber town in 1882, is conveniently situated approximately two hours from larger destination cities such as Jackson, Biloxi, New Orleans, and Mobile. In recent years, the city has become a destination all its own thanks, in part, to its starring role in HGTV’s popular “Hometown” series. As Laurel, and interest in it, continues to grow, we are committed to providing the resources necessary to help all of our residents and businesses reach their full potential.
